So now my four years as an undergraduate student at the Academy has almost come to an end.
I thought I'd share a few things that I have learnt from studying there in particular:
- Never for a moment think that you aren't as good as 'everyone' else. Be honest with yourself; have you practiced enough? Have you done what you've been advised to do? Have you eaten and slept? If you cannot answer 'yes' to all those questions, then you cannot be cross with yourself. Have a good night's sleep and start again tomorrow!
- If you feel aches and pains somewhere in your body - STOP playing immediately! You don't want to make anything worse and if you listen to your own signals they are usually accurate, and it will make sure you have a much speedier recovery.
- And never, ever, for a slightest moment loose track of who you are and who you want to become as an artist!
